A hike in the swamp! September 3, 2011

"New" Swingset -- August 12, 2011

After seeing the hours of great fun Holden and Quintin had on Holden's new swingset, I began dreaming... A playground would be such fun for our yard, too! I started collecting information -- on new sets, old sets, and everything in between. And then, I saw it -- $25 for a swingset, on Craigslist. I thought it might be a mistake, so I called. And then, I begged them to hold it until the weekend. I offered an extra $10 if they'd wait (I know, I know -- holding out the big bucks!). Kevin and Marcus gave up an afternoon of relaxing by the side of the pool to drive down to Tampa and disassemble the thing (apparently, with swarms of mosquitos feeding off of their blood, sweat, and tears). Their labors evidently made quite an impression on the set's original owners, who refused to take any money at all for it! The boys loaded all of the pieces onto a trailer and then, Kevin got it reassembled in our own back yard. Quintin was ecstatic! He proudly announced to anyone who would listen that his Daddy built him a FORT! In his back yard! (He still does!). Kevin ended up replacing a lot of the wood, and is still working to get it a new roof (the one it came with blew off in a summer storm), but to Quintin, it was the MOST AMAZING fort ever! Score!

Locks for Love

I was able, finally, to grow out my hair long enough to benefit Locks for Love. It sure felt wonderful to have it cut -- my head felt so much lighter! While Kevin definitely (vocally!) prefers my hair longer, even he liked the great new hair cut I got at Aveda :-)
